DS SMITH PLC NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPOINTMENT

Further to the announcement made on 5 January 2010, DS Smith Plc confirms that Gareth Davis has today joined the Board as a non-Executive Director.

As required by the Listing Rules, it is confirmed that there are no changes to the details disclosed on 5 January 2010 pursuant to LR 9.6.13 R (1) to (6) except that Mr Davis has resigned as Chief Executive of Imperial Tobacco Group Plc in May. He is a non-Executive Director of Wolseley plc. Mr Davis does not hold any shares in the Company.
