FAQ

DS Smith produces a wide range of speciality papers, including plasterboard liner, grey board, white board, testliner, coreboard, solid board, and Alterplas — a plastic-free alternative. Each is designed for specific industrial, construction, or packaging applications.

Plasterboard liner is used for bonding to gypsum-based insulation and wallboard systems. It offers excellent adhesion, smoothness, and dimensional stability for high-volume construction use.

Grey board is a dense, recycled paperboard ideal for cores and industrial packaging. White board offers a clean printable surface, perfect for visual and educational uses. Solid board is multi-layered, providing extra rigidity for heavy-duty packaging.

Yes, the majority of our speciality paper grades are made from 100% recycled fibre and are fully recyclable, supporting circular economy goals.

Alterplas is a plastic-free packaging alternative made from 96% recycled fibres, with a small percentage of adhesive and barrier film. It is food-safe, heat-sealable, and designed to replace materials like polystyrene and PEHD in trays, boxes, and protective packaging.
