Maximum marks awarded for environmental reporting and operational eco-efficiency by the S&P Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) 2023

The 2023 edition of the S&P Sustainability Yearbook has ranked DS Smith alongside some of the world’s best performing companies for corporate sustainability.

Ranking 73 in the S&P Corporate Sustainability Assessment, up 6 points since last year, places us ahead of the average score of 32 in the Containers and Packaging industry. A prestigious acknowledgement which further reinforces our position as a leader in sustainable packaging solutions.

Full marks were awarded for environmental reporting and operational eco-efficiency, while above industry average scores were achieved across several categories including climate strategy, water-related risks, product stewardship, occupational health and safety and human rights.

The S&P Sustainability Yearbook is an insightful and transparent database of companies leading the way in corporate sustainability and we are extremely proud to be a part of that.

More than 7,800 companies were assessed by the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for inclusion in the 2023 edition of the S&P Sustainability Yearbook, with only 708 selected for entry based on their highly commended ESG scores.

The CSA’s sustainability criteria is industry-specific and financially material, with a modern methodology that reflects present-day sustainability trends, technological developments and environmental challenges. The CSA have been recording sustainability data and trends from some of the world’s largest and most profitable companies for over two decades.
