At DS Smith, sustainability is integral to our circular business model and we can have the greatest positive impact by helping to create a low carbon, circular economy. It’s a journey we have been on with customers and colleagues for more than a decade.
In January 2025, we joined the International Paper family, creating a truly global leader in sustainable packaging solutions. Together we remain committed to creating a more sustainable future.
When we launched our Now & Next Sustainability Strategy in 2020 we set ambitious near and long-term targets that confirmed our commitment to the Circular Economy and our Purpose of Redefining Packaging for a Changing World.
Our Now & Next Sustainability Strategy includes aspirations for ‘Now’ and for ‘Next’, focusing on the sustainability challenges we are facing today, as well as those that will impact on future generations. This allows us to lead the transition to a low carbon, circular economy.
In partnership with our customers, suppliers and communities, we have made huge progress across all four of our focus areas and have already achieved many of our ambitious targets, in some cases, ahead of schedule.
The world, and what it takes to lead, are constantly changing and our strategy continues to evolve.
Although many of our ‘Now’ targets are coming to an end, we continue to focus on the sustainability challenges we face today, as well as those that will impact future generations.
Building a stronger global company
As part of International Paper, we will build on the progress we have made so far and will continue to put new ways of thinking into action.
Looking ahead, we plan to develop a new strategy that reflects our current and future identity. This acquisition marks a new chapter for us, and we look forward to continuing our sustainability journey as a combined business.
