Increasing production capacity in DS Smith Viana Paper Mill

DS Smith Viana Paper Mill has been granted the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Portuguese Agency for investment and foreign trade (AICEP) to increase its production capacity.

Viana Paper Mill, in northern Portugal, is one of the most important kraft liner paper mills in Europe.

viana-image-web.jpgFollowing an ambitious modernisation plan in 2017, Viana Paper Mill became one of the most efficient kraft liner manufacturers in Europe, delivering a product recognised for its high-quality standards. 

The investment from the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) and AICEP (Portuguese Agency for investment and foreign trade), enabled Viana Paper Mill to expand its production capacity and consequently the business volume, responding to the demand for increasingly sustainable products.

The main objective was to strengthen research, technological development, and innovation processes in the production of sustainable paper products which resulted in our Viana Paper Mill to become more competitive in local and European markets.
