DS Smith Packaging CEO attends launch of new circularity tool

Today, Packaging CEO Stefano Rossi attended the launch event for Circulytics, a new digital tool created by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation (EMF).

We announced our global partnership with the EMF, one of the leading sustainability organisations in the world in May 2019 and since then we have benefited hugely from their expertise and insight as well as sharing some of our latest work on innovative sustainable recyclable solutions to replace the use of plastics

Circulytics - the most comprehensive circularity measurement tool available

The EMF’s Circulytics tool is designed to help organisations accurately measure their circular economy performance and will enable them to see how prepared and successful they are in transitioning from a linear model (take-make-waste) to a more circular economy model (reduce-reuse-recycle).

circulytics-web-920.pngThe EMF defines the key principles of the circular economy as:

  • Design out waste and pollution
  • Keep products and materials in use
  • Regenerate natural systems

Using in-depth company data alongside insights and analysis from EMF Circulytics will provide companies with; a clear picture of their circular economy performance, the ability to track their progress and highlight opportunities to innovate in this space. At DS Smith we’ve made a significant investment into systems, processes and infrastructure to ensure we are focused on adopting circular ways of doing business now and in the future.

We put sustainability into the heart of everything we do. Implementing Circulytics supports our vision of ‘Redefining Packaging for a Changing World’, urging us and other business around the globe to consider better ways of working with our environment and the lifecycle of the natural materials we use. Circulytics will enable us to be more circular and will help our customers embrace circular solutions too.

As CEO Miles Roberts says, “it holds the mirror up to us and enables us to evaluate our business model in more detail than we've done before.” Have a look at our CEO, Miles Roberts, introducing Circulytics:
